Ajahn Brahm Talk About Solving Problems…

Today after my class at Novena, I took a cab and rushed down to Pasir Panjang area for a talk by a Western monk, Ajahn Brahm. I came to know about him quite a few years back through a friend. And I always do my best to make time for his talks whenever he is in town.

He is a funny monk who shares life experiences through interesting short stories and at the same time, shares some meaningful lessons with his audience. Though he is a buddhist monk, his story comes from all over the world, involves different races, reglions. His talk are always packed with young and old, so crowded that some folks who are late have to listen to him via a video conferencing. This speaks volume.

Now, this year, today was the second time I was there. First time was on Valentine’s Day and I got a surprise bonus – I met 2 of my previous students there together with their family whom I am pretty familiar with.

Today, I met another 2 students who I taught previously.
What a small world.

Well, today’s talk on solving problems taught me an important lesson :

” There is always something new to look for in an item, person, problem, keep your mind open to discover more things “

Thanks, Ajahn for yet another insightful sessions.

See you again soon!

Death note – L Change the World movie activated my tear gland

I just came back from VivoCity, one of the largest shopping maze that I have yet to complete.

Went to Golden Village to catch Death Note. It was a unique experience due to the following:

  • It was a rare day where my bear initiated this movie trip.
  • It was my first time to Cinema 1 which was pretty huge, mainly for movie launches I guess.

I have this bad habit of falling asleep during movies haha perhaps to the reason that I am usually quite drained after work. Nevertheless, I did not know what to expect for this movie as I totally forgot what happened in the previous episodes. All I can recall is that Death God who loves eating apple.

This is yet another meaningful movie. I love movie where I can learn a lesson after watching.

It got so touching in the end when L was departing when he left the Math Genius little boy at the orphanage. I tear . . . Of all movies I watched, this is one of the rare ones which can activate my tear glands…

“No matter how gifted you are, you alone can’t change the world”

was the message he told the little boy who was super brilliant with numbers. He had a cute face too! haha…

Death Note – L Change the World : Highly Recommended!!! Saw the thriller here
